Last weekend a new bug hotel was constructed on site, supervised by our wildlife officer Jacqui Woodhead. It is located on the front corner of the site, adjacent to the farmers field. It’s a great addition to the other bug hotel already constructed on the wildlife area just inside the main gate.
A big thank you to Jacqui for collecting and donating most of the materials, and to John and Julie that assisted Jacqui with the build. 4 Star and 3 Star accommodation now available for bugs on site! Well done to all involved.
Just to confirm this years Ivinghoe & Pitstone Horticultural Show will not be going ahead this year. Below are a few photos of our secretary’s flowers that she was planning to put on the show benches. Hopefully next year the show will go ahead.
After introducing our wildlife wetland pond to the site last year, its fantastic to see that we have had newts take residence already. As newts are a UK endangered and protected species, it is even more special, and a credit to the Allotment committee members and plot holders that created this wonderful habitat on site.
